How do you make your class engaging especially when your students are shy and not sure about their answers?

I’m interested in helping learners enjoy reading and feel more confident sharing their ideas. What are some simple ways you encourage high school learners to take part in discussions about literature, especially when they are shy or unsure of their answers?
