What’s already a strength in your teaching that you want to double-down on next school year?
In professional sports, one obvious strategy when drafting new players onto a team is to look for gaps and areas for growth. Example: don't have depth at the guard position? Draft a guard!
However, a divergent way of approaching the draft in recent years by some teams: doubling-down on what already is strong. Have a really strong defensive line that your defense is built around? Go get another prospect for the defensive line to make that strength even stronger.
For me, sometimes I take for granted as a teacher what I already do well—and I've noticed that this can lead to what was a strength in my classroom stagnating a bit over time.
A reflection question this weekend, then: what's something you already feel confident in as a teacher that you want to invest in making even stronger (and more impactful!) in the upcoming year?
