LIVE EVENT: Ask Us Anything About Your First Few Weeks in the Classroom
This event took place on August 20, 2025. Thanks to all who joined us!
This Ask Us Anything is a one-evening event designed to help new teachers navigate the exciting (and sometimes overwhelming!) start of the school year. For several hours this evening, you’ll have direct access to experienced educators and staff from around the Edutopia community who’ve been where you are and are ready to share practical advice, honest stories, and tried-and-true strategies. Our goal is to help you get the year (and your career!) off to a successful start.
Bring your questions about classroom management, building relationships with students and families, lesson planning, finding work-life balance, and more. Whether you’re looking for quick tips to solve immediate challenges or encouragement to keep you going, this interactive session is your chance to connect with a supportive community and leave feeling more confident for the weeks ahead! Experienced teachers are welcome to add their wisdom, stories of success, and other advice to the conversation.

Hosted by:
Jay Schauer, who retired in July 2024 as the new teacher mentor teacher for Riverside, West Linn, and Wilsonville High Schools in Oregon.
Rachel Scheer, a National Board Certified teacher with over 13 years of experience in elementary education.
Marcus Luther, currently a 14th-year high school English teacher.
