60-Second Strategy: TUMS at the Door

A simple greeting at the door forges a strong teacher-student bond.

October 27, 2017

The TUMS at the Door strategy was created by Dr. Laura Riffel, who provides educator training at Teacheropedia. The TUMS acronym stands for touch, use their name in a positive way, make eye contact, and smile. The strategy was developed in response to research showing the benefits of greeting students at the door.
