What’s on your mind re: AI or classroom technology right now?

If your school was going to host a tech summit, what topic(s) would you add to the docket?

My most recent article, Why Your School Should Have a Tech Summit This Year, was sparked by a Substack post from a teacher named Alexa Garvoille.

Educators in her community were seriously split about AI. Tensions were rising.
The faculty senate intervened "by planning an in-person, faculty-led, tech-free discussion to hash out our differences on AI adoption in the flesh,” Garvoille wrote.

I thought wow.. that’s a great idea that more schools might benefit from adopting.

I pressure-tested it with an educator I trust, high school English teacher Marcus Luther. He said, "that type of space (teachers/faculty coming together to share and exchange perspectives around AI policy) is needed and productive... The problem, I think, is that a lot of 'AI spaces' are now geared towards training/tools—and I think there's considerable consequence in skipping past open, honest discussions about where everyone is at, what they are concerned about, etc.”

This confirmed for me that sharing this idea would be valuable.
