I recall instances as a teacher candidate when I would learn about a new teaching strategy (either in coursework or from my mentor) and then later would implement it in my student-teaching placement or in my first year in the classroom. I enjoyed the conversations I had with my colleagues where we shared ideas, and appreciated how they were genuinely interested in learning from me as well. As a first-year teacher, I felt so validated. Finding new ways to engage students in their learning and teaching academic content is so important!
