New student enjoys body flopping when asked to join in the activity. He wants to be a comedian, we have given him the space to do so, but it endangers himself and others as he thinks it is funny to body flop at the end of his open mike. He does enjoy the attention of the group , however, the group is feeling unsafe with him. He is rather large. We have offered the group expectations in writing and orally. We have ignored his need for attention, we have asked him to go for a walk and rejoin the group. He stated he was tired, we gave him a quiet space to nap and regroup at his own time. We act out the group behavior expectations for him as well. This is an adult program for adults with autism, with no extreme behavior outbursts.
