Trevor Boffone

High School Spanish Teacher and University Lecturer

Dr. Trevor Boffone is a Houston-based scholar, educator, writer, dramaturg, and producer. He is a lecturer in the Women’s, Gender & Sexuality Studies Program at the University of Houston and a Spanish teacher at Bellaire High School in Houston, Texas. He holds a PhD in Latinx theatre and literature from the Department of Hispanic Studies at the University of Houston.

He is the creator of the @dr_boffone Instagram account, which features his work using Dubsmash, dancing, and music to connect with his students. He is currently writing a book about using Dubsmash to break down cultural barriers in the classroom. He is the co-editor of Encuentro: Latinx Performance for the New American Theater, Teatro Latino: Nuevas Obras de los Estados Unidos, and Nerds, Goths, Geeks, and Freaks: Outsiders in Chicanx/Latinx Young Adult Literature.
