I am one of about 200 physicians triple board certified in psychiatry, child psychiatry, and forensic psychiatry. It wasn’t until my forensic training to become an expert witness that I began to fully appreciate that a comprehensive evaluation often means spending many hours completing interviews with multiple people to obtain different perspectives. As well, psychological testing, psycho-educational and often medical testing may be necessary to complete a holistic, 360-degree evaluation. After all, if you’re starting with the wrong diagnosis, you’re going down the wrong path.
