Reading Specialist

Shalander “Shelly” Samuels is currently a secondary reading specialist and adjunct professor at institutions in central Florida. Her interests include the achievement of English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL/ELL/EL), gaps in learning, and creating unique literacy intervention programs for marginalized communities. She is keen on developing varying opportunities through the concept of intersectionality connected to higher education and K–12 research—especially in urban areas and with a specific focus on Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) students.
