Merinda Pratt earned her undergraduate degree from Lincoln Memorial University, a rural Appalachian college, and obtained a K-5 teaching license. She began teaching first and second grade upon graduation, while earning a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She quickly realized that she was passionate about rural education instructional practices, which led her to acquire her Ed.D. in Teaching and Learning. She continued teaching in a rural elementary setting, serving as both a lead teacher and a district-level math lead. Currently, she is a professor at Lincoln Memorial University, where she teaches in the doctoral program.
