Meredith Kimi Lewis

Program Specialist, Advanced Learning Department in Seattle Public Schools

Meredith Lewis has taught intermediate elementary grades in the Lake Washington School District and in Seattle Public Schools for 12 years. She began her teaching career as an assistant language teacher to Japanese junior high school students in a rural Japanese town. She holds a Master’s in Fine Arts (Creative Writing, Poetry) and a Master’s in Teaching from the University of Washington. Meredith currently works as a program specialist (K–5) in the Advanced Learning Department in Seattle Public Schools, helping teachers with all students but especially students who qualify for advanced learning and highly capable services. She is a poet and the author of Miniatures from Marsh Hawk Press which won the MHP First Book Award. Meredith has published poetry in Poetry, The Iowa Review, Field, Poetry Northwest, and other literary journals. When she’s not working, writing, or doing the laundry, Meredith can be seen pitching baseballs to her two sons.
