Lydia Friedman Siddique

Academic Specialist

Lydia began teaching in 1995 with Teach for America in the South Bronx of New York City. After receiving her M.Ed., she went on to teach in Washington, D.C., Santa Monica, CA, and Chicago. She comes from a family of teachers, and some of her earliest memories are of tagging along with her mom, who taught adult literacy classes in northeastern Brazil. That experience continues to inform how and why Lydia teaches reading to this day. When not working, she loves spending time with family, traveling, cooking, swimming in Lake Michigan, and reading.
