Kylie Altier
Elementary Teacher
As the 2024 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year and Louisiana Public Interest Fellow, Kylie Altier has been a fierce advocate of early literacy and ensuring that all kids feel seen and loved in the classroom. Her own personal experience with dyslexia shapes her approach to teaching reading and writing as she finds new ways to make sure every child gets exactly what they need to shine. She has taught for 13 years and never stops finding new ways to engage her students in hands-on learning experiences. She has won over $80,000 in grant funds, which she has used to build school gardens, a mobile kitchen, and an outdoor classroom; purchase a set of virtual reality headsets; and more.
