Professor and Urban Literacy Consultant

Kathryn Starke is a national urban literacy consultant, author, keynote speaker, adjunct professor, and founder of Creative Minds Publications, an educational publishing company. She has taught in urban education for 15 years as a first, second, and third grade teacher, a K-5 reading specialist, a district literacy coach, and an urban literacy trainer for VCU AmeriCorps and the University of Chicago. She is the author of Amy’s Travels, a multicultural children’s book, and Tackle Reading, an educational resource and annual literacy event supported by the NFL.
