Jerald McNair

Elementary School Principal

Jerald McNair, Ed.D., has more than 24 years in education. He has been a teacher, dean of students, assistant principal, and principal. Dr. McNair is passionate about improving the academic performance of all students, particularly African American males. Because they are suspended or expelled from schools at higher rates, identified for special education more often, have higher dropout rates, and are overrepresented in our penal institutions, it’s essential that steps be taken to understand why. He recognizes the impact that mentoring, cultural awareness, and working effectively with teachers can play in ameliorating the academic plight of African American male students. He also writes on various contemporary topics in different platforms, including but not limited to newspapers and blogs. He blends his passion for politics, education, and economics in some of his contemporary writings.
