Jeffrey D. Wilhelm

Jeffrey Wilhelm is Distinguished Professor of English Education at Boise State University and the founding director of the Boise State Writing Project

A full time classroom teacher for 13 years, Jeff Wilhelm is currently Distinguished Professor of English Education at Boise State, director of the Boise State Writing Project and a teacher of middle schoolers each spring. He has authored 37 texts about literacy teaching including: the NCTE Promising Research Award for “You Gotta BE the Book” and the Russell Awards for Distinguished Research for both “Reading Don’t Fix No Chevys” and for Reading Unbound: Promoting the Power of Pleasure Reading. Jeff enjoys speaking, presenting, working with students and schools.  He is currently researching how students read and engage with non-traditional texts like video game narratives, manga, horror, fantasy, etc. as well as the effects of inquiry teaching on teachers, students, and learning.
