Dylan Ryder

K-8 Educational Technologist

I am an Educational Technologist at The School at Columbia University, an independent K-8 school in New York City. I teach computer programming, physical computing, engineering design, and digital media skills. My work centers around hands-on, project-based challenges where students have to design solutions to novel problems, often ones that come from their local environment. The goal is to have students see themselves as technology makers, not just technology users.

I'm always pushing myself to embrace the broadest view of educational technology possible. Hand tools, craft supplies, microcontrollers, computers and more are all fair game in the classroom.
