Don LaBonte

I believe in the power of play

Don LaBonte is a life long learner who has been working in the city of Chicago over the past 10 years. As both a teacher and curriculum specialist, he has developed classroom experiences that value play as a key component of learning. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Iowa and Master of Arts in Teaching from National-Louis University. Don began teaching within the University of Chicago Charter School network. Here he harnessed technology as a medium for students to express their interests and passions. At ChicagoQuest, Don used game like learning principles to enhance learning. You will often see him tinkering and playing with new games and tools to make connections to best practices. In his new role as Co-Director of Convergence Academies, Don hopes to positively impact how teaching and learning occur in education.
