Carol Flanagan

Pedagogista

Carol Flanagan is the pedagogista at Evergreen Community School, a social constructivist, visual arts–based preschool in Santa Monica, California. She holds a B.A. in liberal studies and an M.A. in early childhood education. For over 40 years, she has worked in various professional capacities as a preschool teacher, pedagogista, and college instructor. As a volunteer, she has worked as a library literacy coach, parent leader on school committees, and Girl Scout leader. She is passionate about the intersections and the points of tension among anti-bias education, reflective practice, indigenous world views, environmental education, and the arts.

She creates and facilitates workshops and presentations for families and educators that illuminate the complex philosophical and practical foundations of working with young children. A lifelong resident of California, she delights in exploring its cultural and natural riches.
