Brian J. Dixon

Author of Social Media for School Leaders; Founder of the Mentorship Academy

Dr. Brian J. Dixon is passionate about preparing today’s young people with real world skills to succeed in our changing world. He has a doctoral degree in educational technology from San Diego State University, where he studied students creating reflective video journals online. He was also the director of online programs for High Tech High, a nationally recognized charter school network with 10 member schools throughout Southern California. Dr. Dixon founded the Mentorship Academy, a project-based, technology-focused charter school located in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana, that provides a student-centered learning place to help underserved students prepare for success in college and beyond. He lives in Baton Rouge with his wife, Julie, and son, Ryland.

Dr. Dixon’s newest book, Social Media for School Leaders, teaches readers how to create an effective social media strategy for a school or district.
