Aida Sadr-Kiani

Former 3rd grade and current K teacher

I love teaching because of the way it blends celebrating the concept of youth, with the pursuit of knowledge, community building, and social justice. I taught third grade for three years at a large charter school network that served low income students of color. I now work for a school that serves a similar demographic, with a different model: one that emphasizes relationships, interdisciplinary learning, and Frierian pedagogy. I'm eagerly trying to plot my beliefs on the spectrum of teacher authority and student autonomy. This year, as a first year kindergarten teacher, I am also thinking a lot about how to leverage thinking, speaking, and drawing into the writing and communication process.
