What is your Educational Philosophy?
Completing the Philosophy of Education Inventory helped me better understand who I am as a teacher and what guides my decisions in the classroom. My strongest alignment was Progressivism (23/25), showing that I believe learning happens best through active experience—when students explore, question, collaborate, and construct understanding rather than simply receive information. As a teacher, I see myself as a facilitator who designs opportunities for meaningful engagement and growth. My secondary influence, Social Reconstructionism (17/25), reflects my belief that education should also help students become empathetic, responsible citizens who can participate positively in society. I value activities that build social skills, critical thinking, and awareness of others. Although I prioritize student-centered learning, I also recognize the importance of basic skills, discipline, and timeless knowledge. Altogether, my philosophy is rooted in exploration, curiosity, social responsibility, and the balance between freedom and structure in learning.
