I am the school counselor at Sheridan School in Washington, DC, a therapist in private practice, the author of the recently released Middle School Matters: The 10 Key Skills Kids Need to Thrive in Middle School and Beyond—and How Parents Can Help (Hachette, 2019), and a frequent contributor to The Washington Post. I am also a regular columnist for Kappan (PDK, Intl.) and AMLE magazines and have written for a number of national and international publications including Working Mother, Your Teen Magazine, Chicago Tribune, and Psychology Today. My professional work in the school setting has been featured in The New York Times and Mindshift KQED.
