Lori Wenzinger

Social Studies Teacher, Action for Unity Founder/Advisor

As a middle school teacher, I seek to engage students in learning through a process of self-discovery and dynamic activities. Throughout my 27-year teaching career in Virginia and South Carolina, I have led multiple professional development classes on curriculum and teaching methods. My awards include: SCCSS Outstanding Lesson: Civic Engagement & Taking Action Award and the national Civil Rights/Civil Liberties: Excellence in Teaching Award sponsored by Nystrom Education. I participated in the Teach to Lead, Long Beach Teacher Leadership Summit in 2016, and I presented at the National Council for the Social Studies annual conference in San Francisco in 2017. I am most proud of my leadership role in creating ACTION, a student-led initiative that promotes unity through community partnerships and purposeful acts of kindness.
