Elementary School Teacher

Lauren Swihart is a third-grade teacher at a K–12 charter school in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, where she works to support the school’s goals to educate children in science, technology, engineering, and math in ways that inspire problem-based learning and innovative thinking. While working on a master’s in biology through Project Dragonfly’s Global Field Program, she has traveled to various countries studying inquiry and participatory education in areas such as community-based and wildlife conservation, which she enthusiastically brings back to her classroom.
