John Kamal

Engineering Teacher

John Kamal teaches young people engineering at Science Leadership Academy, a public high school in Philadelphia. After earning degrees in mechanical engineering, John went on to design interplanetary spacecraft for GE and NASA before cofounding and building a software development firm for more than 20 years. He now leads SLA's engineering program, helping young people learn the process of solving technical problems, designing, and building cool things. When not teaching, John can be found playing the accordion and creating oddities in his workshop.
