Heather Butters

Heather is currently a fifth grade teacher in a Title I school in Northern Virginia. She has taught in the same school for seven years, with experience in fourth through sixth grade. By working with students with a wide range of needs, including English language learners and special education and economically disadvantaged students, she was inspired to pursue avenues to improve student outcomes. Her favorite part of teaching is when her students exclaim their excitement or groan in suspense during an interactive read-aloud.

Heather attended Penn State University. She recently received her master’s degree in literacy leadership in diverse schools from George Mason University.
