Heather Beam

Special Education Teacher

Heather Beam is a special education teacher at Hunterdon Central Regional High School. She teaches in the 18–21 Transition Program involving independent community living skills and is a self-contained/in-class support teacher for environmental and earth science classes in Flemington, New Jersey. In the independent community living skills class, Heather connects students with a successful transition to independent adult living by fostering skills in a traditional classroom setting and connecting their learning with the community. She provides authentic learning experiences through community-based instruction. In science class, she is passionate about teaching the necessary content but making connections to real-world scenarios. Heather focuses on teaching students skills they can use in the future, not just in the classroom. Heather tries to incorporate problem-solving skills to help all the students with everyday living situations.
