Dian Smith

Reading Specialist

Dian Smith is a reading specialist in a private literacy practice. After six years of teaching small reading groups, she started tutoring challenged readers and writers one-on-one. She earned her Master of Education degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and an additional one in reading and learning disabilities from Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds certification from the Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) and the International Dyslexia Association (IDA).

Before becoming a teacher, Dian worked in publishing, writing books and articles for children and adults in trade and professional publications. Her goal is to remove the hurdles and to add joy and purpose to children’s reading and writing.
