Hi all,

I've created a presentation (with some help from my colleagues) on different examples of formative assessment. You can view it here:

Note the definition I'm using at the beginning of the presentation: A formative assessment or assignment is a tool teachers use to give feedback to students and/or guide their instruction. It is not included in a student grade, nor should it be used to judge a teacher's performance. Both of these would be considered summative assessments.

I'm having a hard time getting the google doc to download, or print out! I've googled the "how to" but my options don't match! Using an antiquated computer - not sure if that matters!! Suggestions?

sbadger8689, it's not your computer. At some point in the last year, Google changed the permissions available for Slides.

You might try contacting the author, David Wees, on Twitter at

For your information, I was able to open the link today. I don't know if anything changed but I was able to access the slides.

Thanks, Alison. Accessing the slides isn't the problem, it's being able to make a copy for your own use. Google used to let you do that when you have permission to view, but now it looks like you need permission to edit before you can make a copy.

Likely the change is a result of people wanting to protect their work, but it's unfortunate for instances like this one.
