What advice do you have for newer teachers about teamwork with families that feels collaborative, not adversarial?

Something I learned the hard way as a newer teacher: take a break and calm myself down before connecting with parents/families about a rough day with their students. And sometimes I still make this mistake! There can be a lot of "parents vs. teacher" narrative out there, so I'm wondering what advice people have for being on the same team as parents/families/caregivers from day 1.
