I love the idea of peer-mediator/mentor model. I teach first grade and we definitely have our share of recess struggles. Two years ago, it got so out of control that we implemented circuit type activities that had to be done daily. This helped with behavior but the children were bored and unhappy. We have since gone back to free play but the struggles continue. Open Circle sounds fantastic and I'd like to speak to our guidance counselor about it. I hope we can use the information from this article to help with our issues. Thank you for sharing!
