Joan Young

Fourth grade teacher from Redwood City, California

Joan is a 4th grade teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area. After working for several years as a social worker and therapist, she decided to become a teacher so that she could impact more children. At the start of her teaching career, Joan learned a great deal while spending many years teaching Kindergarten/1st grade. She is passionate about helping kids discover their strengths and work through their challenges so that they can flourish. Joan is also the author of “25 Super Sight Word Songs & Mini-Books” published by Scholastic.

Joan is very actively involved in social media and believes in the importance of connecting globally with educators, authors, and experts in many fields. She co-moderates and participates in several chats on Twitter and enjoys helping teachers find creative opportunities and solutions in everyday classroom challenges.
