When I had students do

When I had students do projects in my classes, after giving them their feedback and their overall group grade (say 27/30 for 3 kids) I then had them sit down in their groups and redistribute those marks amongst themselves (so that they each got a score out of 10) according to who did the most work and had the most valuable input etc. This worked well and taught kids about honest reflection and fair discussion about each other's contributions. The kids who scored lower almost always agreed that they had done less work and therefore deserved less credit.

Katie Piper- did you go to Dulaney?

And, thank you for the idea of the roles/skills and keeping a portfolio of progress. I really like the idea of kids choosing which work they feel represents their best for certain criteria.
