Glad to hear it! I definitely need to remind myself to take it slow on a regular basis!

Thank you for this post. I am newly addicted to Pinterest and I have found numerous blogs, websites, and activities that I am in love with, created by teachers. It makes me want to jump right in and do that. I often feel inadequate since I have the abundance of technology, if I don't use it as much as I should. After reading your post I feel much better and need to keep reminding myself to take things one step at a time and just because it looks cool, it doesn't mean it was a great lesson.

According to Gary Shattuck (2007), it takes between 3 to 5 years for a teacher to move from novice to effective technology integrator. We have to be patient with ourselves, take things in small steps, share locally and keep trying.

I very much agree with being transparent, after all, we are committed to being life-long learners. What's the big deal of modeling this to our students? It is Okay to not know it all.
Thanks for the encouragements!

Just keep at it

Thank you for this post. It reiterates what I believe so much about technology integration in the classroom. Practice, practice, practice. When I was in the classroom, I couldn't expect that the day I decided to teach a new lesson, with content that was new to me or a concept that I wasn't completely familiar, was going to be EASY.

Technology in the classroom is no different. You have to practice and become familiar with it in order for it to work effectively.

I really appreciated this

I really appreciated this posting! Sometimes I feel so intimidated and envious of what other teachers (or school librarians in my own case) are doing in their classrooms/libraries. I feel as if I'll never get to where they are. I need to remember that everyone reaches their goals small steps at a time! Thanks so much, Mary Beth, for your supportive and wise words!
