Percentage of cleaning products used in U.S. schools known to pose human health or environmental risks. Some of the ingredients from these cleaners can cause eye and skin irritation or trigger asthma attacks. Others have been linked with neurological disorders and cancer. Schoolchildren are especially vulnerable because their rapidly growing bodies are more sensitive to such toxins. Less dangerous cleaners are widely available.
