Zoe Weil

I am the co-founder and president of the Institute for Humane Education (IHE),, which works to create a more humane, just, and sustainable world through education. IHE offers online graduate programs (M.Ed., M.A., Ph.D.) in humane education through affiliations with Valparaiso University and Saybrook University as well as online professional development courses for teachers, workshops, a Summer Institute, and hundreds of free downloadable resources. IHE believes that the purpose of education for the 21st century ought to be educating and graduating "solutionaries," young people with the knowledge, tools, and motivation to contribute to a better world no matter what careers they pursue. IHE has launched Solutionary Congresses for students to collaborate and present solutions to local and global problems, and is planning the first preK-12 Solutionary School to open in New York City in 2016.
My first TEDx talk, "The World Becomes What You Teach" is among the most viewed and highest rated TEDx talks. I am the author of several books including Nautilus Silver medal-winner, "Most Good, Least Harm," "The Power and Promise of Humane Education," and "Above All, Be Kind: Raising a Humane Child in Challenging Times." I speak and lead workshops in communities across the U.S. and Canada as well as abroad, and keynote educational and other conferences.
