I have been the Director of Casa for past 21 years. Our mission, and my passion, is to teach Social and Emotional Intelligence and vioelnce prevention programs to children, teens and adults to teach optimal relationship skills and prevent abuse and violece. Casa teaches over 7 different curriculums in schools, pre-school,after-school and summer programs. Casa has been teaching prevention programs for past 30 years throughout our county in approimately 40 of our 60 school districts reaching over 700,000 students. Casa has been trained and certified to teach PATHS and Olweus Bullying Blueprint programs along with other promising practice programs. Casa has also created two very effective sexual violence prevention programs. Combining our years of experience in schools, in 08-09 Casa implemented an extremely effective SEL model in a Valley school district in 17 schools with 17,000 students which we are continuing to perfect and expand to other districts. At Casa, I oversee the planning and administration of Casa's programs and services, fundraising, administration and finances, and public / media relations. I graduated with a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Arizona State University in 1982 and a B.S. in Sociology from the University of South Dakota in 1975. Prior to my employment at Casa, I served as Associate Director of Administration for the Boys and Girls Club of the East Valley, AZ. Previously, my career was in student life,admissions,career placement at Arizona State University (8yrs) and Devry Institute of Technology (2yrs. I am married and have one daughter, who I am proud to stay is a 2nd grade teacher for Teach for America in Brooklyn, NY.
