WHAT WORKS IN EDUCATION The George Lucas Educational Foundation

Sandra Wozniak

I have just retired after 33 years of teaching in the Middle School. I now have the opportunity (and time) to share my expertise and experience with other teachers. (A retired person's mind is a terrible thing to waste!) I am currently working with the nonprofit tregoED organization to help teachers integrate proven critical thinking strategies to core subject areas to increase engagement, understanding, communication, and collaboration. My students and I worked with tregoED to help develop an online tool called the SCAN tool (http://www.tregoed.org/teachers/new-to-scan.html)that helps kids learn a critical thinking strategy, empathy, perspective and content. I believe we should be teaching kids how to think, not what to think!
