This will be my 32nd year teaching, and my third year as a librarian. After my nineteenth year in elementary school (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 4th GATE), I fell out of love and was ready to find a new career. Instead, I made a change to middle school. It was a perfect match for me. I spent ten years there teaching 6th, 7th, and 8th, and then decided to change again. I signed up to get my librarian certification and immediately found a position in an elementary school. After two years at the elementary level, I am returning to the middle school level. Life is all about learning!
I believe teaching is all about building a safe community first. Then I feel that it is our job to make certain the students are learning. If not, I have to look at what I can change.
