As the founder of Creating Master Teachers (CMT), I provide consulting and coaching services to schools here and abroad. I have field tested my inservice model and Guidebook, Read Think Write, for teaching early grade reading and writing, in Kenya. My career in education includes primary and intermediate classroom teaching in NY City; serving as a literacy specialist and staff development coordinator in the Half Hollow Hills School District; mediating the reading, writing and problem solving strategies of at- risk students and bridging their learning to the classroom; designing and leading professional development initiatives; facilitating collegial circles and study groups; and serving as adjunct professor in the Graduate School of Education at Dowling College. My book, Learning for Keeps: Teaching the Strategies Essential for Creating Independent Learners was published by ASCD in 2010.
