My scholarship over the past years while an Associate Dean of Engineering and Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Connecticut has been centered on effective learning and effective problem solving. While seeking to help my university students with these important skills, I have also been reaching out to the K-12 community through invited visits to K-12 classrooms and through workshops for K-12 teachers and administrators.

My main interests at the moment beside effective learning and effective problem solving are intrinsic motivation and informal education involving families.
