Don Doehla, MA, NBCT

Hello everyone, my name is Don and I am a re-directed French teacher, formerly at Vintage High School in Napa, and Vallejo HS, in Vallejo, California. I am also Co-Director of the Berkeley WL Project at UC Berkeley's Language Center, where we offer workshops for pre-service teachers, and those in K-12 in communication-based methods of language acquisition. I am particularly interested in teaching languages through inquiry-based approaches, especially PBLL (project-based language learning), tech tools and authentic resources in culturally relevant contexts with proficiency-based linguistic outcomes.

I have been very privileged to have lived and studied in France for four years, as well as in Quebec, Canada and in Senegal. I have visited South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, and several countries in Europe - I love to travel and meet people.

I hold a BA in French from UC Berkeley, and an MA in French from UC Santa Barbara. I am a National Board Certified Teacher, and hold the CLAD and the CA Single Subject Teaching Credential in both French and History. I believe strongly in the importance of collaboration, so I am a member of AATF, ACTFL, CLTA, FLA-NC and ASCD. I look forward to collaborating with you here at Edutopia!
