Bob Dunkerley

Bob retired in July, 2008 from a 34 year career as a professional educator in West Virginia public schools and currently serves as the President/CEO of Helianthus LLC, an education consulting firm and Arts advocacy group. A veteran teacher of 27 years as a band director/music teacher, Bob spent the last seven years of his career as a central office administrator for Tucker County Schools specializing in Federal Programs (NCLB), K-8 Curriculum, Reading First, Afterschool/Extended Learning, Student Services and the Fine Arts. His work in schooling venues continue today through Helianthus LLC, National Judges Association, Arts Alive, WVDE Arts Team Project, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, WVU Extension Visiting Committee, Music Educators National Conference, West Virginia Art Educators Association and several other professional educator/administration organizations. Bob resides in Elkins, WV with his wife Karen (assistant professor of Education at AB College) and in addition to his consulting/advocacy work continues as a part time professional musician (percussion) performing with Vandalia Jazz and as a free lance orchestral/studio performer. Bob enjoys all forms of music and drumming from Jazz/Rock/Funk to Scottish/Celtic, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian and Dixieland.Hobbies include drumming, golf, sailing, travel, reading, music listening and is active in several community service organizations, Knights of Columbus and currently serves on the boards of the West Virginia Dance Company, Tucker County Connections and Tucker County Family Resource Network.
