I work in struggling urban school that thinks it is doing OK yet our SAT scores average around 360 and far too many of our graduates need remedial classes in college. Our students are smart with a huge potential for greater accomplishment but they are very skeptical of what I propose to do every day. I like the challenge of making that case to kids who aren't the type who do whatever you tell them to do. How to do that is what I spend my time thinking about.
I like interdisciplinary subjects and love teaching Humanities with its base on essential questions. I find the greatest power of technology is that instead of writing for the teacher, students are writing for each other.
