WHAT WORKS IN EDUCATION The George Lucas Educational Foundation

Roy Vereen

I have a MSW degree from Rutgers University as well as a MA degree from George Washington University. Prior to being in administration, I was a school counselor at the middle school and high school level. In addition, I served as a case manager for Camden Board of Education in Camden NJ.

My educational philosophy is Social Emotional Learning helps drive the educational process. Students have to learn the importance of being good people. When these lessons are taught and internalize then better students are produced. Currently, I train peer mediators at my school in addition to chairing our youth advisory council. Also, I work with a group of at risk males in a group setting. The title of the group is Young Male Empowerment group/Goal Setting Group.

Areas of Interest:
peer mediation,
individual/group work,
special needs students(special education/gifted & talented)
