WHAT WORKS IN EDUCATION The George Lucas Educational Foundation

I am enjoying my 6th year as the Instructional Technology Specialist for our K-12 school district in Cincinnati, OH. Prior to accepting this role, I was a third grade teacher for 7 years; fourth grade teacher for 2 years and a gifted specialist for 10 years. I am interested in authentic, relevant learning; in particular how Web 2.0 technologies can support, enhance and transform learning. My primary responsibilities are creating learning experiences for teachers. I have also led two large projects for our district: I led our T.A.B.L.E.T. Project which provided a tablet pc and wireless projector to teachers for spending a year in a professional development piece with me. I also led our BYOL project which gave 7th grade students the opportunity to bring their personally owned devices to school; we have since expanded the program to 8th grade and will move it to our high school next year.
