George Peternel retired from Northwestern University's Center for Talent Development (CTD) in October, 2010, and now devotes his professional time to consulting with parents and school administrators, teaching part-time, writing, and doing accreditation visits for AdvancED. During his five-year stay at CTD, he administered a variety of programs, including several innovative programs that focused on providing supplementary services to underserved populations of gifted students. He collaborated on several published papers and presented regularly at the NAGC, IAGC and NCTM conferences. Prior to his work at CTD, George's career included nearly 30 years as an elementary and middle school principal in the Chicago area. He also spent several years directing a Head Start Program and teaching future teachers at the community college level.
