WHAT WORKS IN EDUCATION The George Lucas Educational Foundation

Eunice Tanco

Hi ! My name is Eunice Tanco. This is my ninth year at UTES. I offer over 20 years of experience as an early childhood educator. I have studied Child Development and Family Relations at the University of Puerto Rico. In May 2005, I received my second Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Bilingual Education from Texas State University. I have been involved in different communities in the United States and Europe working with children and families to promote learning and development. I had been an Early Childhood advocate, creating communities of learners and implementing developmentally appropriate practices as well as Social Emotional. I am a dynamic and passionate speaker, I had presented at numerous conferences, seminars and workshops for educators locally, regionally, nationally including Puerto Rico and Germany. I had played several roles throughout my career to promote and stimulate families to support their children's education. I had dedicated my professional career to education as a school teacher and also serve as an adjunct professor at Austin Community College. As a female, bilingual, Hispanic mother of two is very important for me to continue helping our future generations to contribute to our society to be more understanding of each other. I would like to continue promoting and fostering equality and social justice in our schools in order to create a better society for our children. I remain actively involved in various national, state and local early childhood organizations. I am married and have two children. I like almost everything and I consider myself very flexible and energetic. I am very people oriented and enjoy being with others, especially children. I like to travel with my family and love to music and reading.
